LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT EXECUTIVE

Our client, an agricultural company is looking for a highly proactive and experienced LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT EXECUTIVE to help with the company’s operations.

ROLE PROFILE

The successful candidate will manage the transportation of the company’s supply chain for all incoming and outgoing materials. He will also look for business opportunities for company-owned vehicles in the capacity of transport service provider.

  DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare a monthly revenue budget for the company’s owned vehicles (trailer, vans, etc.) transportation service, driver-fuel and maintenance costs.
  • Prepare a monthly cost budget for all company-owned vehicles (insurance, service, compliance cost, etc.)
  • Create transportation plans and schedules, work with suppliers, out growers, farmers, and carriers to ensure timely delivery of completed goods to distributors and timely supply of raw materials, fertilizers, and other supplies from suppliers.
  • Compare transportation costs, offer advice on cost-effective solutions and get the CEO’s approval before making a reservation.
  • Transport from the plant to other locations at optimum cost to find loads to fill the truck’s capacity and minimize transportation costs.
  • Manage the logistics of inbound and outbound paddy and rice transportation, including route planning vehicle allocation, and load optimization.
  • Oversee and coordinate offloading activities at various destinations, ensuring efficient and timely unloading of goods while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff or third-party logistics partners and resolve any issues that may arise during the offloading process.
  • Compile a list of all the company’s insured and registered vehicles and make sure that all insurance and vehicle compliances are completed on time under Ghanaian regulations for use in commercial, private, and corporate institutions to perform upkeep and servicing on all company-owned vehicles
  • Make long-term relations with fleet owners, brokers, etc. by visiting them.
  • Plan the best routes to optimize costs and delivery times.
  • Keep track of vehicle movement by implementing technology solutions such as GPS tracking apps. (Follow the progress of vehicles with GPS-tracking apps)
  • Evaluate and improve transportation and logistics processes to increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws governing transportation and logistics operations.

     EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a degree in Purchase and Supply Management or any related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in Transportation and Logistics Management.
  • Proven work experience in the agricultural or food processing industry is preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements for transporting agricultural products.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  •  Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in fleet management and maintenance is desirable.
  • Knowledge of milling processes and agricultural supply chains is an added advantage.
